In times of tyranny there have always been those who have stood up to injustice and immorality. These revolutionaries struggle to dispense justice and righteousness. In times of darkness these men rise, like a breath exhaled from the Earth and devour the unjust. To these people, I dedicate this post and recount some of the great names that have stood up for good, for honor and for justice.

Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)

Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is the greatest revolutionary in the history of the World. His religious revolution not only altered the history of Arabia, but that of the World. His influence on the World was that which no man could ever dream of having. Whereas most revolutionaries have brought reform to only a few handful ethnic communities, his revolution was a global one whose effects reached out to the farthest ends of the Earth.

Vladmir Lenin

Vladmir Lenin holds to his credit the establishment of the worlds first socialist state, the USSR, which also became a first-rate power in the future. The Russia that we know today was the creation of this man, through the October 1917 revolution. His political ideology of Leninism has had a profound effect on Marxism and has served as a foundation for the development of Communism.

George Washington

The great power that dominates the World today would not have been possible without this man. He is responsible for the American victory over the British in the American Revolutionary Wars, and ultimately the creation of the United States of America. Today, the United States is recognized as the World Super-Power all because of his man. Most of the governmental routines followed in the USA today were crafted by George Washington. He is known as the Father of his country today.

Mao Zedong

Today, China is considered as the up and coming World Super Power. It was this man who led the Chinese Revolution that led to the creation of the People’s Republic of China which we know today. He was also founder of Maosim which contains element of Marxist-Socialism along with his military strategies.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was the driving force behind the African-American Civil Rights Movement that eventually freed African Americans from *White* oppression. President Barrack Obama stands as a living tribute to this man as the first African-American President of the United States of America. He struggled for the prosperity of African-American throughout his life and he had to pay heavily for it. A tribute to this man by U2: U2-Pride (In the name of love) .

Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara

Che Guevara was the grand-architect behind Cuban Revolution. Although the revolution itself doesn’t hold much importance today, it was his defiance against the unjust tyrannical rule that earned him his fame. He is a symbol of rebellion today and an idol for the hot-blooded youth who want to take it up against *The Man*.

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela is a quite recognizable name when it comes to revolutionaries. He worked to break the *white supremacy* within South Africa by fighting against the apartheid system of government according to which any *non-white* South Africans were not allowed to rule. Many activists today idolize his work.

Ayatollah Khomeini

Ayatollah Khomeini was the leader of the revolution that eventually led to the overthrowing of the Shah of Iran. His radical approach and his ruthless actions proved effective in his campaign. Although he had a profound effect on Iran, it is debatable whether they were for the greater good.

Simon Bolivar

Simon Bolivar was the man behind the independence of the Latin American states of  Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Panama and Ecuador. He led the Latin Americans in their struggle to gain independence from the Spanish Empire. Thus, he rightly earn his place at 9th in this list of the World’s 10 Greatest Revolutionaries.

Mustafa Kamal Attaturk

Mustafa Kemal Attaturk holds to his credit the creation of the modern Turkish state. He overthrew the Ottoman Caliph and modernized the state of Turkey. However his reforms are considered by many today as un-Islamic.
